Which Extension Method works best for you?

We all have different styles when it comes to how we learn and in agriculture, it is not any different. What is your most preferred best extension method for you to learn and acquire new skills for your farming and Why? I choose the method that works best for me based on 1. How quickly can I learn new skills? 2. How much of content I get. 3. Other Farmers Participation 4. Opportunity to ask questions and learn skills 5. The cost implication of the method. 6. Is the method farmer driven or is it just a company trying to move a slow moving product 7. Service providers participation. 8. Equal gender participation( both male and female) not like Barazas where only men attend. 9. Ease of reach-Extension officers will come and never come after so many years, Do you think they will teach me how to grow potatoes and how to harvest them in one day?

Now, do you prefer Barazas, Demonstration farms/on-farm trials, Internet - googling, facebook , Hard Copy Materials - Agriculture literature, Brochures, Handouts, MassMedia - TV, Radio or Government Extension Staff?

Agriculture thats involves no practical learning remains like a subject demo farm and physical involvement helps much more than any other practice to me gathering information and running demonstration farm is the best

There is one thing that had agriculture grow at the highest speed it was govt extension staff i myself learnt all i know now thru those agricultural officers who used to tour the villages spreading the instructions but to my surprise these days i only see them coming to arrest people who are drying coffee on bare ground and those who spray beans with herbicides so that they sell earlier at aprice some of the worst typical farming habits to fight

The best method agricultural extension officers can use is the demonstration farms and using the farmer field school approach is great if employed attracts many. It's a method have used and succeeded.
It's all practical and practical on huge farms and even for the small scale farmers. I had tried it and succeeded.

Yap I bet u are in ug my brother
