Poultry is so versatile and all the breeds can do well in Busia county. However the market segment in western Kenya region is more inclined to the indigenous chicken. Livestock assessment report by the ministry of livestock development and fisheries that took place between 19th and 20th October 2011 puts indigenous / local poultry in the lead as the most common in Busia. Because production is informed by the market catchment area, you could perform simple survey to on your target market before settling on a particular breed. Otherwise you can do kroilers or improved Kari chicken.
